Respiration in the mature embryos of coffee

Respiration in the mature embryos of coffee

Turrialba 27(2): 199-201

Oxygen consumption (QO2) and RQ values were studied in the embryos of 15 coffee species, cvs and hybrids. QO2 value showed an inverse relationship with embryo weight. High RQ values recorded were due to the involvement of TCA cycle intermediates as respiratory substrates.
