Respiratory disorders in cheese workers. The pathological role of mites

Respiratory disorders in cheese workers. The pathological role of mites

Nouvelle Presse Medicale 3(25): 1603-1605

This preliminary investigation covered 214 workers in cheese factories in central France. A clear indication of cheese mite infestation as a cause of respiratory disorders among the workers was obtained. Among 137 workers subjected to a systematic examination, 32 gave positive skin tests to mite extracts and in 54 cases specific precipitating antibodies were detected by immunoelectrophoresis.
