Respiratory gases in uterine circulation of pregnant domestic swine as sampled by indwelling catheters

Respiratory gases in uterine circulation of pregnant domestic swine as sampled by indwelling catheters

American Journal of Physiology 234(1): R25-R28

Polyvinyl catheters were inserted in a uterine vein and a uterine artery of 18 sows. Blood obtained through the catheters between the 30th day of gestation and parturition was analyzed for gas content. The partial pressure of oxygen in venous blood fell from 70 to 57 Torr during pregnancy.
