Response of American goats and cattle to peste des petits ruminants virus

Response of American goats and cattle to peste des petits ruminants virus

Proceedings of the 19th annual meeting of the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians, 1976: 337-344

Exposure of American goats to pest of small ruminants (PPR) virus resulted in an acute to subacute disease with approximately 25% mortality. The disease features were similar to those of rinderpest (RP). Cattle immunized with PPR resisted challenge with RP virus. Although PPR-infected goats transmitted the virus to contact cattle, they exhibited no disease signs and resisted challenge with RP virus.
