Response of Betula verrucosa to nitrogen fertilization

Response of Betula verrucosa to nitrogen fertilization

Arsbok, Foreningen Skogstradsforadling Institutet for Skogsforbattring 1975: 103-144

Describes trials at two sites in northern Sweden in order to compare the effects of treatments with urea or NH4NO3 on stands 27-31 years old. After five growing seasons, increased growth with increasing rate of application of fertilizer was shown by all treatments with urea (up to 600 kg N/ha and 800 kg N/ha at the two sites, respectively) and by treatments with NH4NO3 up to 240 kg N/ha and 480 kg N/ha at the two sites, respectively.
