Response of Mexican bean beetle larvae and the parasitoid Pediobius foveolatus to Dimilin

The effects of diflubenzuron (Dimilin) on the larvae of Epilachna varivestis Muls. and the subsequent development of its parasite, Pediobius foveolatus (Crwf.), were investigated in the laboratory at Clemson, South Carolina, by allowing the beetle larvae to feed on lima bean leaves dipped in solutions of diflubenzuron at different concentrations. The LC50 for third-instar beetle larvae was found to be 3.4 p.p.m.
