Response of Penstemon fruticosus to fertilization

Response of Penstemon fruticosus to fertilization

USDA Forest Service Research Note, Pacific Northwest Forest and Range Experiment Station (PNW-271): 4

P. fruticosus, a ground-cover shrub indigenous to the eastern slopes of the Cascade mountains in Washington, is capable of survival on poor, dry soils and is of potential value for soil stabilization on sites disturbed by logging, road construction etc. A greenhouse study to determine the response of the plant to application of fertilizers (N, P, K and S) showed that it does respond to treatment with N and P.
