Response of Sonalika wheat to phosphorus in soils varying in available phosphorus status

Wheat Sonalika was grown on soils of low, medium or high P status at 13 sites in the Kangra District of Himachal Pradesh. Where no P was applied, yield was min. in low-P soils and increased with the increase in P status of the soil. Response to applied P showed the reverse trend. Applications of 90, 75 and 45 kg P2O5/ha have max. yield and was most economic in soils of low, medium and high available P, resp. With P application, P content and uptake in grain increased in all soils.
