Response of a complex tropical pasture mixture to different grazing management systems

Response of a complex tropical pasture mixture to different grazing management systems

Dissertation Abstracts International, B 36(12,I): 5899

In a field trial in 1974 cattle were grazed on a Macroptilium atropurpureum Siratro/Desmodium intortum Greenleaf/Lotononis sp./Bermuda grass Coastcross mixture which had been sown in 1973. Grass percentage and grass DM yield were increased by longer rest periods at higher grazing pressure. Legume percentage and legume DM yield were increased by long rest periods. The negative effect of long grazing periods was partly offset by lenient grazing pressure.
