Response of beans to nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium on the principal soils of Parana State

In field trials at 5 sites in the dry and wet seasons in 1974-5, beans (Phaseolus vulgaris) were given 0, 40, 80 or 120 kg N, 0, 40, 80, 120 or 160 kg P2O5 and 0, 40 or 80 kg K2O/ha. During the wet season the greatest increases in seed yields were 55% given by 160 kg P2O5/ha and 49% given by 120 kg P2O5/ha. Application of 120 kg N/ha increased yields by 13% and application of K2O decreased yields.
