Response of castor to conservation practices on eroded slopy lands

Response of castor to conservation practices on eroded slopy lands

Indian Journal of Agronomy 21(4): 482-484

Castor was sown by 3 different methods on newly reclaimed soil with 3% slope and was given 40 kg N + 20 kg P2O5/ha or no fertilizer and (a) inter-cultivation at 1-month intervals or (b) no inter-cultivation. Av. seed yields in crops sown in contour line, contour furrow and contour trench were 1.02, 1.22 and 1.44 t/ha, resp. Yields with (a) and (b) were 0.91 and 0.78 t, resp., without NP and 1.54 and 1.06 t with NP.
