Response of celery to manure and nitrogen fertilization under Negev conditions

Celery, Florida, was planted on 15 October in a light brown loessial soil at the Gilat Experiment Station and harvested on 25 February. Highest yields (55-65 ton/ha) of export quality produce were obtained in plots that received combined treatments of manure and fertilizer. In all cases the highest yields were obtained when 360 kgN/ha was applied. Dry matter accumulation and NPK uptake were greatest during the three weeks prior to harvest.
