Response of common and Clair timothy to nitrogen fertilization

Response of common and Clair timothy to nitrogen fertilization

Tennessee Farm and Home Science (95): 4-5

In plot trials in Tennessee in 1964-9, timothy Common and Clair were given (a) no fertilizer, (b) 60 lb N/ac in spring, (c) 60 lb N in spring + 30 lb N/ac after the 1st cut, (d) 120 lb N/ac in spring or (e) 120 lb N in spring + 60 lb N/ac after 1st cut. Plots were top-dressed in spring with 60 lb K/ac. Clair gave higher DM yields than Common at all N levels. Application of 60 lb N/ac to Common produced DM yields at least 2-fold those of untreated plots.
