Response of height isogenic barley lines to cultural treatments. 1. Yield and yield components

In field trials, 2-row barley Compana and a short isogenic line and 6-row Titan and medium and short isogenic lines were grown with or without irrigation in rows 15 or 30 cm apart and given 0 or 72 kg N/ha. Added N increased av. grain yield/ha, number of ears/unit area and number of grains/ear by 50, 42 and 6%, resp., but did not affect av. grain wt.
