In cultivators' fields, yield responses to N, P and K during 1969-70, varied with the climatic region. Responses to 60 and 120 kg/ha N, and to 22 and 44 kg/ha P in conjunction with N, were generally positive, and significantly higher than lower rates of application. Responses to K (42 and 84 kg/ha) varied, but, except for young alluvial soil (which gave yield depressions) they were mostly positive.
