Response of lentil to Rhizobium inoculation and N fertilizer

In field studies during the winters of 1971-6, seed yield responses of lentil to seed inoculation with single and mixtures of Rhizobium strains were investigated. An effective symbiosis and consequent increase in the seed yield was associated with the efficiency of the strain. Inoculation with a superior strain produced 23-32% more seed than no inoculation on loamy-sand soil and 46-90% more on sandy-loam soil.
