Response of lines and varieties of Capsicum spp. to Meloidogyne incognita in the glasshouse

In glasshouse tests all the accessions, lines and varieties of Capsicum frutescens tested were resistant to attack by 5 populations of Meloidogyne incognita. C. chinense "Surrinam-4", tested against a single population, was also resistant. C. annuum P.I. 159237 and P.I. 159256 were moderately resistant. It is suggested that genes for resistance to M. incognita in C. chinense "Surrinam-4" may possibly be easily transferrable to cultivated peppers.
