Response of mice selected for rapid post-weaning growth rate to dietary manipulation

Response of mice selected for rapid post-weaning growth rate to dietary manipulation

Growth 38(4): 465-476

Normal control mice (C) and mice selected for rapid post-weaning growth rate (G) were deprived of food for 24 h and then killed or refed to appetite and killed 24 h later. The diet was normal or was high in fat. Patterns of enzyme change in the liver were similar in both strains of mice. When litter size was adjusted to 3 or 12 within 2 days of birth there was a greater relative increase in body fat and adipose cellularity in C strain.
