Response of mustard variety Varuna (Brassica juncea Coss) to high doses of nitrogen

In field trials on sandy loam, increasing levels of N applied to B. juncea Varuna (T59) significantly increased pod number/plant, pod length and seed number/pod. Seed yields were increased significantly from 0.65 to 1.19 t/ha by application of 50 kg N/ha in the 1st year and from 0.17 to 0.94 t/ha by 100 kg N/ha in the 2nd year.
