Response of nitrogen and phosphorus in relation to method of application, on the yield of gram (Cicer arietinum)

Nitrogen at 20 kg/ha showed 31.7 and 16.0 per cent increase in grain yield over 0 and 10 kg N/ha respectively. Inoculation of seed before sowing with specific gram rhizobia enhanced the grain yield by 13.1 per cent over control and was as effective as 10 kg N/ha in both crop seasons and 20 kg N/ha in second season. Phosphorus at 50 kg/ha recorded increases of 30.8 and 12.7 per cent 0 and 25 kg P2O5/ha.
