Response of oats to water deficit. 1. Physiological characteristics

Response of oats to water deficit. 1. Physiological characteristics

Agronomy Journal 69(3): 357-360

In field trials, water stress imposed for 9-11 days on oat Jaycee at (a) late boot stage or (b) anthesis and early grain filling or (c) at both stages reduced net photosynthetic rate (NPR) by 80% compared with unstressed plants. Recovery was more gradual and incomplete with (b) than with (a) or (c). Plant subjected to (a) had a significantly higher NPR after recovery than had unstressed plants.
