Response of pearl-millet hybrids to nitrogen and economics of fertilization in different agro-climatic conditions

An experiment involving various pearl-millet hybrids (HB1', 'HB3' and 'HB4') and levels of nitrogen (0,40,80,120,160 and 200 kg/ha) was conducted at various locations representing different agro-climatic and edaphic conditions. The study was initiated in 1969 and carried through 1971. All hybrids displayed high production and nitrogen use efficiency in Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
