Response of resistant and susceptible onion cultivars to pink root disease under controlled growing conditions

Neither immunity nor resistance to pink root disease was found in any of the onion cvs tested and the supposedly resistant Yellow Creole and Golden were the most susceptible. Infection shortened the growing period and advanced maturity in spring and summer, particularly in late cvs. In very susceptible cvs infection reduced bulb size (and consequently the yield); the cvs Granex, Dessex and Laredo showed some resistance.
