Response of serum lipids and insulin in men to sugars ingested with or without other foods

Response of serum lipids and insulin in men to sugars ingested with or without other foods

Nutrition Reports International 14(4): 485-494

After a fast of 12 h 5 men 29 to 37 years old took a breakfast without or with glucose, fructose, equal amounts of glucose and fructose or sucrose 72 g. The meals, including the sugar, supplied 800 kcal. A week later after a further 12-h fast glucose or fructose 72 g was given without breakfast. Blood was collected from the fasting subjects and 30 min, 1, 2 and 3 h after the breakfast or sugar load.
