Response of six rice varieties to varying rates of nitrogen fertilizer

In a field trial in 1975, rice (a) Vista, (b) Brazos, (c) Lebonnet, (d) Starbonnet, (e) C.I. 9890 and (f) C.I. 9902 were given 50 lb P2O5 + 50 lb K2O/ac and 0, 50, 100, 150, 200 or 250 lb N/ac as ammonium sulphate. All cultivars gave highest paddy yields (4860, 5140, 4950, 5340 and 4330 lb/ac for (a), (b), (c), (d) and (f), respectively) with 100 lb N/ac, except for (e) which yielded most (5430 lb) with 200 lb N/ac and gave 4700 lb with 100 lb N/ac.
