Response of some wheat cultivars to sowing density and sowing date in the agroecological conditions of the southern Banat

In trials with 4 winter wheat sown on 6 dates in 1970-2 at 400-700 germinable seeds/m2, Sava yielded 6.84 t grain/ha, Biserka 6.96 t, Aurora 6.11 t and Kavkaz 6.01 t/ha. Opt. sowing date was 20 Oct., Aurora and Kavkaz were least tolerant of late sowing and yielded 18-21% less when sown in mid-Nov., while Biserka showed the least effect of sowing date.
