Response of soybeans (Glycine max L.) to 5 previous applications of glyphosate and 2,4-D on plots infested with purple nutsedge (Cyperus rotundus L.)

After 5 applications in one year of 2,4-D and glyphosate to control C. rotundus, soybeans sown the following year were unaffected by the herbicide treatments; C. rotundus populations, however, were reduced in numbers and vigour when a dense stand of soybeans followed the herbicide applications. Repeated applications of glyphosate, each followed by soil tillage, reduced the weed population but did not eradicate it. Numbers of tubers in the field were reduced, however.
