Response of spinach (Spinacia oleracea L.) to applied boron in a boron deficient soil

In a glasshouse pot experiment, highly predictable relationships of N NH4OAc (pH 4.8) extractable soil boron to dry matter yield and plant boron content were found. Marked increase of dry matter yield due to boron application was observed. The results support the reported critical concentration of boron, i.e. 0.35 mu g B in NH4OAc extract of soil.
