Response of sugarcane to phosphate fertilization at graded levels of nitrogen

In 2-year trials with sugar cane the effects were compared of N (as urea) at 0, 250, 300 and 350 kg/ha and P2O5 (as single superphosphate) at 0, 21.5, 43.5 and 64.5 kg/ha, in all possible combinations. The highest yields were obtained with N and P2O5 at 250 and 21.5 kg/ha, respectively. Higher application rates markedly depressed yields.
