Rooting of hardwood cuttings in a plastic tunnel

, : Rooting of hardwood cuttings in a plastic tunnel. Acta Horticulturae (79): 25-31

Cuttings of a wide range of ornamental trees and shrubs, taken at the end of January, were placed in a rooting medium in 7-cm plastic pots under 60-cm tall tunnels covered with clear or milky white plastic (1) in a glasshouse at 20 deg C, (2) in a glasshouse at a minimum 5 deg , or (3) in the open. In general, rooting was better in (2) than in (1) and losses tended to be highest in (3). The rooting percentages are tabulated for each species and treatment.
