Two circulating schistosome-derived antigens, probably both polysaccharides, were demonstrated in hamsters heavily infected with 1,500 Schistosoma mansoni cercariae. One antigen was an anodic, heat-stable, high molecular weight substance demonstrated in serum and in the excretory and secretory products and gut epithelial cells of adult worms.
