In a severe epiphytotic of S. tritici on wheat in the Wagga Wagga and Temora areas of NSW in 1975, infected material contained perithecia, macropycnidia and micropycnidia. The ascogenous stage was of the Mycosphaerella type and ascospores measured 9.5-17 X 2.5-3.5 mu m.
