Burley tobacco Burley 21 was grown in kuroboku soil with N fertilizer placed on the surface or in the middle band layer with mulching, plots (a) and (b), resp. or with dibble planting mulch as the covering method, plots (c) and (d), resp. At the maturing stage, total dry wt./plant for (a), (b), (c) and (d) was 269.5, 294.5, 318.7 and 344.3 g, resp., and total N absorbed was 6.1, 7.0, 6.8 and 7.1 g/plant, resp.
