Studies on the biological characteristics of eight blackberry cultivars in the Troyan microregion. II. Number of fruit buds and flowers

The number of fruit buds developing on a shoot was a varietal characteristic and did not depend on shoot length. Fruit bud density was highest on shoots of the cvs Wilson and Mammoth and lowest on Boysen. Kittatinny produced the greatest mean fruit bud number (12.6) and Wilson the smallest (6.9). The mean number of flowers/bud was greater in buds on the main shoot than on laterals.
