Studies on the comparative performance of wheat varieties under late-sown conditions

Studies on the comparative performance of wheat varieties under late-sown conditions

Indian Journal of Agronomy 21(4): 388-391

In trials in Haryana, 4 wheat sown on 15 Nov., 20 Nov., 15 Dec. or 30 Dec. gave av. grain yields of 3.57, 3.89, 3.08 and 2.87 t/ha, resp. For sowing on 20 Nov. when highest yields were obtained, the max., min and mean air temp. was 25.6, 7.2 and 16.2 deg C, resp. A min. temp. of 4.5 deg together with mean temp. of 14 deg was the critical lower temp. limit for sowing wheat; yields were reduced markedly when the temp. was lower than this limit.
