Studies on the humus forms of forest soils. 4. Humus composition of fractionated horizons of forest soils

Studies on the humus forms of forest soils. 4. Humus composition of fractionated horizons of forest soils

Soil Science and Plant Nutrition 23(4): 503-511

In the physical fractions of the horizons of five forest soils, regular changes in humus composition were observed with the gradation of horizons and with a decrease in particle size. Most of the humic acids from plant residual fractions belonged to the Rp type; humic acids from the L layers showed a tannin-like character which disappeared with progressive decomposition, and humic acids from the smaller particle fractions of the H layers contained a Pg fraction.
