Studies on the pathological physiology of Fusarium wilt of cucumbers and the mechanism of protection from it given by grafting on Cucurbita spp

The susceptibility to wilt of various cucumber cvs and hybrids was tested. The course of invasion of cucumber and squash plants by the fungus is recorded, showing the resistance mechanism in squash roots. Cucumber scions grafted onto rootstocks of 13 cvs of squash and pumpkin (Cucurbita spp.) and grown in soil infested with the fungus did not wilt except when C. mixta was used as rootstock.
