Studies on two-year successive cropping with sugar beet following permanent pasture in Tenpoku district. 1. Influence of two-year successive cropping on growth, root yield and sugar content of sugar beet

Proceedings of the Sugar Beet Research Association 16: 51-57

In field trials sugar beet were grown on ploughed permanent pasture. Growth of beet grown in 2 successive yr became poor after the end of June in 1 yr and the middle of July in the following yr. Application of a fungicide mixture of DAPA and PCNB prevented the decrease in growth and increased root yield. Application of FYM or fertilizer also decreased the effect of root yield.
