Study of yield components by controlling tillering at different sowing densities in wheat (Triticum aestivum)

Stands were sown at four densities and tillering was restricted to from 1 to 6 stems per plant to maintain an equal number of stems per plot. Tillers were assessed for height, ear length, grain number/ear, grain weight/ear and spikelet number/ear. The first four were negatively correlated with order of tiller appearance and spikelet number was also negatively correlated in one experiment.
