Suitability of IET. 3226 for the upland rainfed areas of Chotanagpur (Bihar)

In trials in 1973-75 in Kanke, the rice variety IET3226, with the parentage (N22 X TN1) X (T20 X IR8), was found to be suitable as a short-duration upland variety for direct sowing under rainfed conditions. It was released as a medium-grained variety, Kiran, in 1976 by the Rajendra Agricultural University, Bihar, India.
