The trace elements iron, zinc, copper and magnesium in adolescents

Fe, Mg, Cu and Zn were estimated in serum by atomic absorption spectrophotometry in 45 boys and 61 girls 12 to 23 years old. Mean values in boys and girls, respectively, were for Fe 98.80 and 94.86 mu g, Zn 114 and 97 mu g, Mg 2.22 and 2.59 mg and Cu 149.82 and 130.90 mu g/100 ml. Values for Cu were above normal in 25 boys and 19 girls.
