The effect of Silabon Bayer on chemical composition, digestibility and nutritive value of maize ensiled in trenches

The effect of Silabon Bayer on chemical composition, digestibility and nutritive value of maize ensiled in trenches

Annali della Facolta di Agraria, Universita degli Studi di Perugia 31: 133-143

Silage was made from maize H.O.W. 20 220 harvested at the wax-ripe stage with or without the addition of 2 kg/t of the additive Silabon Bayer which contains 161.7 g Ca, 122.6 g P, 26.4 g Mg and 35.5 g Na/kg. The chemical composition of the maize was investigated and digestibilities of various components measured in sheep. Application of the additive increased DM digestibility from 69.98 to 71.91%, OM digestibility from 72.66 to 73.97% and pure protein digestibility from 18.03 to 32.80%.
