The effect of crop residues on the growth of following crops. III. Effects of root residues of the first rice crop on the second rice crop

In pot experiments, removing the root residues remaining from a previous rice crop before transplanting a second rice crop had no significant effect on the yield of the latter, probably because of the impossibility of removing all the rootlet residues from the soil.
