The effect of density of growth and light in hop gardens on premature cone withering

Chmelarstvi 48(8): 123-125

Premature withering of cones is a physiological disorder related to light conditions in the hop garden. With increasing foliage density, light intensity decreased and withering increased. Heavy shading of the lower parts of the plants reduced the productivity of the laterals, which had an indirect relationship with disorder incidence Artificial shading of bearing laterals increased the disorder incidence.
