6. Heifers which had been reared to gain 0.74 or 0.62 kg daily were served to calve at the same liveweight (see Research Bulletin of the Hokkaido National Agricultural Experiment Station (1975) No. 110, 45-58, (1976) No. 116, 25-34. At the second calving ages of the cows were 33.6 and 36.9 months and liveweights were 582 and 551 kg. At the third calving values were 48.4 and 50.2 months and 634 and 609 kg. The difference in age at second calving was significant.
