For 6 Holstein-Friesian females with daily gains averaging 0.71 kg from 2 mth of age until calving (group A), the length of service period following the 1st and 2nd calvings averaged 196.0 and 146.8 days resp. and the number of services required/conception 6.3 and 2.6 v 216.2 and 131.6 days and 6.6 and 1.4 for the twins of these females , which had daily gains averaging 0.60 kg (group B).
