The effect of duration of growing period and ploidy level on yields and other characteristics of monogerm sugar-beet hybrids

The effect of duration of growing period and ploidy level on yields and other characteristics of monogerm sugar-beet hybrids

Savremena Poljoprivreda 23(3/4): 47-60

Three diploid hybrids were compared in field trials with their triploid counterparts. The diploid hybrids reached technical maturity earlier, whereas the triploids were capable of utilizing an extended growing period more effectively, increasing in root size and in sugar and dry-matter contents more rapidly than the diploids during the last quarter of the growing period.
