The effect of farmyard manure on fields to which no organic manure had been applied for many years. Part 1

Annual application of 20 000 kg/ha of farmyard manure to three consecutive potato crops receiving mineral PK or three rates of NPK increased tuber yield on a sandy soil. The increase was relatively slight in the first year, but increased from year to year. Potato yields, nutrient uptake, and N utilization data N indicated that only in the second and particularly in the third year was the effect of the farmyard manure independent of yield level in the respective years.
