The effect of forest practices on quality of the harvested crop

The effect of forest practices on quality of the harvested crop

Forestry 50(1): 49-66

The paper reviews the effects of forest management practices on wood quality in softwoods, with particular reference to spacing, either at planting or in thinning, pruning, fertiliser application and irrigation. Of special importance are those properties which affect technical performance such as knottiness, density, grain angle and incidence of compression wood.
