The effect of local immunization of the mammary gland on phagocytosis and intracellular kill of Staphyloccus aureus

The effect of local immunization of the mammary gland on phagocytosis and intracellular kill of Staphyloccus aureus

Journal of Dairy Science 60(Suppl. 1): 135

Multiple intramammary infusions of heat-killed S. aureus in 2 quarters resulted in a 62% increase in neutrophil phagocytosis (measured by incubating isolated milk neutrophils with heat-killed 32P-labelled S. aureus).
